Application note
Mining and mineral processing dust collection usually starts with abrasion, particle size, moisture, and filtration velocity. Final filter media and finish selection depends on dust type, working temperature, collector design, cleaning pressure, and current bag wear condition.
Typical dust conditions
- Abrasive mineral dust
- Crusher and screening dust
- Fine mineral powder
- Moisture or sticky dust where blinding may occur
- Variable cleaning pressure and air-to-cloth ratio
Recommended filter media options
- Polyester for many normal-temperature mineral dust collectors
- Anti-static polyester where static risk should be reviewed
- Water and oil repellent finish where moisture or dust release is a concern
- PTFE membrane polyester where fine dust release or emission control requirements need review
Key parameters to confirm before quotation
- Bag diameter and length
- Dust name, particle size, and abrasiveness
- Moisture content and dust stickiness
- Operating temperature and peak temperature
- Filtration velocity and cleaning pressure
- Current bag wear position and photos if available
